Vigan City Fiesta Experience

Image
This year, I got to experience the Vigan City Fiesta for the Conversion of St. Paul, and honestly, it was amazing! I went with someone I really like, which made everything even more special. One of the best parts was the concert. Parokya ni Edgar and Dionela performed, and the energy was just unreal! Singing along with the crowd, dancing a little, and just enjoying the music made me feel so happy. I’ll never forget how exciting it was to be part of that moment. I also joined the carnaval, it was so colorful and lively! The floats, the performers in costumes, and all the cheering made the whole celebration feel so full of life. I couldn’t stop smiling while watching everything and taking pictures. Going to the concert and the carnaval made me realize how important it is to support our festivals. It’s not just about having fun, it’s about celebrating our culture, our traditions, and our community. Being there, seeing everyone enjoying themselves, and taking part in the celebr...

My Year In Review

Image
This year has been full of so many memories, and honestly, it made me realize how much I’ve grown, not just in school, but as a person. One of the highlights for me was our classroom Christmas party. We played fun games, sang together, laughed so much, and enjoyed really good food. It wasn’t just about having fun, it reminded me how important it is to enjoy little moments with friends, to celebrate even the small things, and to just be happy together. Another big part of this year was taking the NCAE. At first, I was super nervous and stressed, but I realized it’s not just a test, it actually helps guide us in choosing the right senior high school strand. It made me think more seriously about my future and what I want to pursue. I felt a mix of excitement and pressure, but it also taught me the value of preparing and believing in myself. I also got the chance to meet new friends. Some of them became really close to me, while others just reminded me how different everyone is a...

Spirit of Christmas

Image
Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year, and every year, I get to experience it in the most fun and memorable way—through our school’s Christmas party. I look forward to it every year because it’s not just about decorations or gifts; it’s about joy, laughter, and being together with everyone. During the party, we always start by singing Christmas songs. I love how everyone joins in, and just hearing everyone sing together fills the room with happiness. It’s those little moments that really make you feel the Christmas spirit. Then come the games, and I have to say, they are always a blast! From team competitions to silly challenges, everyone gets involved. I don’t always win, but seeing my friends laugh, cheering each other on, and having fun together is honestly the best part. The raffle is always exciting too! Waiting for your number to be called, seeing everyone’s reactions it’s such a mix of suspense and joy. Even if I don’t win, the fun is in being part o...

More than Hero, Heart of Philippines

Image
When we think of the Philippines, one name immediately comes to mind, Dr.  Jose Rizal. But he is more than just a face on our bills and monuments. Rizal represents the heart and spirit of the Filipino people, our courage, our love for freedom, and our hope for a better future. Rizal was a remarkable man. He was a writer, a doctor, an artist, and a thinker. But what truly made him special was his love for his country. Through his books, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, he showed the struggles of Filipinos under Spanish rule. He didn’t fight with weapons, he fought with words, ideas, and knowledge. He wanted people to wake up, to think, and to stand for what is right. What I admire most about Rizal is how he believed in change through education and courage, not violence. He believed that learning, speaking up, and thinking critically could help the country move forward. Even when it was dangerous, he never stopped standing for justice. In the end, he gave his life fo...

Every. Single. Child. Deserve to be safe

Image
Every child deserves a childhood that is safe, happy, and free from fear. Children should be able to learn, play, and explore the world, both offline and online, without being harmed or taken advantage of. This is the heart of the 2025 National Children’s Month Celebration, with the theme “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!” Today, technology is a big part of our lives. Children use the internet for school, communication, and entertainment. While the online world opens many opportunities, it also comes with serious risks. Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) are real threats that can deeply affect a child’s safety, dignity, and future. The word “Wakasan” is powerful. It reminds us that this is not an issue we can ignore or delay. Ending OSAEC and CSAEM requires action, not just awareness. Parents, teachers, schools, communities, organizations, and the government must wor...

Leader of Integrity

Image
When I look into the life of President Elpidio Quirino, what stands out to me the most is how he rose from a simple beginning to become one of the country’s leaders during a very difficult period. He was born in Vigan and didn’t grow up with many privileges, yet he pushed himself to finish his studies. Knowing this makes his story feel relatable, he’s someone who worked hard for every opportunity he got. His early struggles clearly shaped the kind of leader he would become. Before he became president, Quirino slowly built his career in public service. He wasn’t the type who suddenly appeared in politics; he really went through different roles, from being a teacher to a lawyer, then eventually a congressman and senator. He also helped draft the 1935 Constitution, which shows how much he understood the country’s needs even before stepping into higher positions. His journey tells me that leadership is something you grow into through patience and experience. As president, Quirino took char...

Culture and Identity of Indigenous People

Image
The celebration of National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month in the Philippines reminds us that Indigenous Peoples are not just part of our history, but an important part of our present and future. With the theme “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development,” the observance highlights how indigenous cultures, traditions, and knowledge continue to shape the nation. These communities have preserved values such as respect for nature, cooperation, and identity, values that modern society can still learn from today. The word “weaving” in the theme strongly reflects how indigenous culture connects the past to the future. Just like threads woven together to form something strong and meaningful, indigenous traditions help build a more sustainable and balanced society. Practices in farming, environmental care, craftsmanship, and community leadership show how development does not always mean modernization, but rather living in har...
